We all have to make important decisions at some point in our lives. However, trying to get used to the new life order that comes with these decisions is often a long and hard process. One of them is the process that we try to decide on our profession. Every person has an area that needs to be explored, where their talents and interest are strong.
As a result, in order to be happy and productive, one has to go through the discovery phase. In order to increase the quality of individuals in a happier, safer, self-confident and talented environment, many experts provide training and guidance on the subject for years. These trainings are usually processed; occupational choices are now determined by the market and not by the individuals themselves. Because turning to a profession that does not have demand in the market actually means inviting them to remain unemployed for a long time.
In addition, years of labor and economic investment are wasted, resulting in a versatile loss of productivity. For this reason, individuals should make the right choices considering that professional choices are very important for themselves and for the future of the country. Suppose that you have done all the necessary research related to the choice of profession. As a result, you have decided that you are prone to languages, but you do not know what to read and why to read. So let's look for answers to these questions.
Translation Studies or Translation and Interpreting ?
WHY TRANSLATION STUDIES?
The aim of the Department of Translation Studies is to educate both Turkish and English language translators and interpreters with the knowledge of both cultures. The students studying in this department often take practical translation courses during their undergraduate education and examine the theoretical and critical aspects of the subject closely. The reason why the department is frequently preferred is that it gives the chance to see courses such as political science, social sciences, history, literature, economics, which are found in many universities without remaining in one area. In this way, students gain experience in translation in specific areas. In these courses, they have a good command of the terminology in different fields with their knowledge of the field and thus they graduate from the university as experienced translators. However, many universities offer the opportunity to become bilingual specialists by giving them the opportunity to choose a second language other than English. At this point, it is up to us to investigate which university will offer a better undergraduate education.
WHY TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING?
